Who I work with
I work with individual adults (aged 18+). I offer online (Zoom) therapy as well as face-to-face therapy in Emsworth.
My approach
My training and approach is largely in Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (REBT) which is a form of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). This training has an integrative aspect from which I use tools from Solution Focused Therapy and Compassion Focused Therapy. I am also trained in Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (a mindfulness-based therapy) and Decider Skills which are useful for people who experience emotions very intensely.

CBT/REBT
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy/Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy
The type of CBT offered is called Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (REBT) and it looks at how our thinking, attitudes, beliefs and behaviours affect our emotions. It shows you how to challenge not only your thoughts, but the beliefs underpinning them and to change your behaviours. Over time, holding rational beliefs and behaving in a more functional way will impact on acceptance of emotions, developing a more resilient and flexible approach to life.
Ultimately, REBT helps people to develop a philosophy and approach to living that can increase their effectiveness and contentment in many areas of life. Once the approach is learnt it is a valuable tool that can be applied to all areas of your life so that you need never disturb yourself about things in quite the same way again.
Acceptance & Commitment Therapy
The aim of ACT is to create a rich, full and meaningful life whilst accepting the pain that inevitably goes with it.
ACT uses mindfulness principles as part of the six core processes it promotes to help you face your demons and live the life you choose to live.

Decider Skills
The Decider Skills are a mix of CBT and DBT skills designed to help those who have developed patterns of intense emotional reactions and impulsive behaviours. DBT is used as an effective therapy for people with borderline personality disorder. The skills cover: distress tolerance, mindfulness practices, emotional regulation and interpersonal effectiveness.
